Jesus: The Example to Follow

Matthew 3:1 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea,

Matthew 3:2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”

Matthew 3:3 For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight.’ ”

Matthew 3:4 Now John himself was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey.

Matthew 3:5 Then Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him

Matthew 3:6 and were baptised by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.

Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Matthew 3:8 “Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance,

Matthew 3:9 “and do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

Matthew 3:10 “And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Matthew 3:11 “I indeed baptise you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Matthew 3:12 “His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

Matthew 3:13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptised by him.

Matthew 3:14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptised by You, and are You coming to me?”

Matthew 3:15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.

Matthew 3:16 When He had been baptised, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.

Matthew 3:17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Matthew 10:1 And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

Matthew 10:2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

Matthew 10:3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

Matthew 10:4 Simon the Cananite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.

Matthew 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans.

Matthew 10:6 “But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Matthew 10:7 “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’

Matthew 10:8 “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

Matthew 10:9 “Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts,

Matthew 10:10 “nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his food.

Matthew 10:11 “Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out.

Matthew 10:12 “And when you go into a household, greet it.

Matthew 10:13 “If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

Matthew 10:14 “And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.

Matthew 10:15 “Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!

Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Matthew 10:17 “But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues.

Matthew 10:18 “You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.

Matthew 10:19 “But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak;

Matthew 10:20 “for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

Matthew 10:21 “Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.

Matthew 10:22 “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.

Matthew 10:23 “When they persecute you in this city, flee to another. For assuredly, I say to you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

Matthew 10:24 “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.

Matthew 10:25 “It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!

Matthew 10:26 “Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.

Matthew 10:27 “Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops.

Matthew 10:28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Matthew 10:29 “Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.

Matthew 10:30 “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Matthew 10:31 “Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Matthew 10:32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 10:33 “But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 10:34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.

Matthew 10:35 “For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’;

Matthew 10:36 “and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’

Matthew 10:37 “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

Matthew 10:38 “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

Matthew 10:39 “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

Matthew 10:40 “He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.

Matthew 10:41 “He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

Matthew 10:42 “And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”

Matthew 16:1 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.

Matthew 16:2 He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’;

Matthew 16:3 “and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

Matthew 16:4 “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

Matthew 16:5 Now when His disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

Matthew 16:6 Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”

Matthew 16:7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread.”

Matthew 16:8 But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread?

Matthew 16:9 “Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up?

Matthew 16:10 “Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up?

Matthew 16:11 “How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread?–but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

Matthew 16:12 Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Matthew 16:13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”

Matthew 16:14 So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

Matthew 16:15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Matthew 16:17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 16:18 “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16:19 “And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Matthew 16:20 Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

Matthew 16:21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

Matthew 16:22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!”

Matthew 16:23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Matthew 16:25 “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

Matthew 16:26 “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthew 16:27 “For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

Matthew 16:28 “Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”

Mark 8:1 In those days, the multitude being very great and having nothing to eat, Jesus called His disciples to Him and said to them,

Mark 8:2 “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat.

Mark 8:3 “And if I send them away hungry to their own houses, they will faint on the way; for some of them have come from afar.”

Mark 8:4 Then His disciples answered Him, “How can one satisfy these people with bread here in the wilderness?”

Mark 8:5 He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven.”

Mark 8:6 So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. And He took the seven loaves and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and they set them before the multitude.

Mark 8:7 They also had a few small fish; and having blessed them, He said to set them also before them.

Mark 8:8 So they ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets of leftover fragments.

Mark 8:9 Now those who had eaten were about four thousand. And He sent them away,

Mark 8:10 immediately got into the boat with His disciples, and came to the region of Dalmanutha.

Mark 8:11 Then the Pharisees came out and began to dispute with Him, seeking from Him a sign from heaven, testing Him.

Mark 8:12 But He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Assuredly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.”

Mark 8:13 And He left them, and getting into the boat again, departed to the other side.

Mark 8:14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, and they did not have more than one loaf with them in the boat.

Mark 8:15 Then He charged them, saying, “Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”

Mark 8:16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have no bread.”

Mark 8:17 But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened?

Mark 8:18 “Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

Mark 8:19 “When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you take up?” They said to Him, “Twelve.”

Mark 8:20 “Also, when I broke the seven for the four thousand, how many large baskets full of fragments did you take up?” And they said, “Seven.”

Mark 8:21 So He said to them, “How is it you do not understand?”

Mark 8:22 Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him.

Mark 8:23 So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything.

Mark 8:24 And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.”

Mark 8:25 Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.

Mark 8:26 Then He sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell anyone in the town.”

Mark 8:27 Now Jesus and His disciples went out to the towns of Caesarea Philippi; and on the road He asked His disciples, saying to them, “Who do men say that I am?”

Mark 8:28 So they answered, “John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.”

Mark 8:29 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.”

Mark 8:30 Then He strictly warned them that they should tell no one about Him.

Mark 8:31 And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

Mark 8:32 He spoke this word openly. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.

Mark 8:33 But when He had turned around and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

Mark 8:34  When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Mark 8:35  “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.

Mark 8:36  “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

Mark 8:37 “Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Mark 8:38  “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

Mark 10:1 Then He arose from there and came to the region of Judea by the other side of the Jordan. And multitudes gathered to Him again, and as He was accustomed, He taught them again.

Mark 10:2 The Pharisees came and asked Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” testing Him.

Mark 10:3 And He answered and said to them, “What did Moses command you?”

Mark 10:4 They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her.”

Mark 10:5 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

Mark 10:6 “But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’

Mark 10:7 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,

Mark 10:8 ‘and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh.

Mark 10:9 “Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

Mark 10:10 In the house His disciples also asked Him again about the same matter.

Mark 10:11 So He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her.

Mark 10:12 “And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

Mark 10:13 Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them.

Mark 10:14  But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

Mark 10:15  “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”

Mark 10:16 And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.

Mark 10:17 Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”

Mark 10:18 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.

Mark 10:19 “You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honour your father and your mother.’ “

Mark 10:20 And he answered and said to Him, “Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth.”

Mark 10:21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”

Mark 10:22 But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

Mark 10:23  Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!”

Mark 10:24  And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God!

Mark 10:25 “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

Mark 10:26 And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, “Who then can be saved?”

Mark 10:27  But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

Mark 10:28 Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You.”

Mark 10:29  So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s,

Mark 10:30 “who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.

Mark 10:31 “But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Mark 10:32 Now they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was going before them; and they were amazed. And as they followed they were afraid. Then He took the twelve aside again and began to tell them the things that would happen to Him:

Mark 10:33 “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles;

Mark 10:34 “and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.”

Mark 10:35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask.”

Mark 10:36 And He said to them, “What do you want Me to do for you?”

Mark 10:37 They said to Him, “Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory.”

Mark 10:38  But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptised with the baptism that I am baptised with?”

Mark 10:39  They said to Him, “We are able.” So Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptised with you will be baptised;

Mark 10:40 “but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared.”

Mark 10:41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be greatly displeased with James and John.

Mark 10:42 But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.

Mark 10:43 “Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.

Mark 10:44 “And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all.

Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:46 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging.

Mark 10:47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Mark 10:48 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Mark 10:49 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”

Mark 10:50 And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.

Mark 10:51 So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”

Mark 10:52  Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.

Luke 9:1 Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

Luke 9:2 He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

Luke 9:3 And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.

Luke 9:4 “Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart.

Luke 9:5 “And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.”

Luke 9:6 So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

Luke 9:7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by Him; and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead,

Luke 9:8 and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again.

Luke 9:9 Herod said, “John I have beheaded, but who is this of whom I hear such things?” So he sought to see Him.

Luke 9:10 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.

Luke 9:11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.

Luke 9:12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted place here.”

Luke 9:13 But He said to them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we go and buy food for all these people.”

Luke 9:14 For there were about five thousand men. Then He said to His disciples, “Make them sit down in groups of fifty.”

Luke 9:15 And they did so, and made them all sit down.

Luke 9:16 Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.

Luke 9:17 So they all ate and were filled, and twelve baskets of the leftover fragments were taken up by them.

Luke 9:18 And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”

Luke 9:19 So they answered and said, “John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.”

Luke 9:20 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said, “The Christ of God.”

Luke 9:21 And He strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one,

Luke 9:22 saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.”

Luke 9:23  Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Luke 9:24 “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.

Luke 9:25 “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?

Luke 9:26 “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.

Luke 9:27 “But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.”

Luke 9:28 Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.

Luke 9:29 As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.

Luke 9:30 And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,

Luke 9:31 who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

Luke 9:32 But Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him.

Luke 9:33 Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said.

Luke 9:34 While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud.

Luke 9:35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!”

Luke 9:36 When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.

Luke 9:37 Now it happened on the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, that a great multitude met Him.

Luke 9:38 Suddenly a man from the multitude cried out, saying, “Teacher, I implore You, look on my son, for he is my only child.

Luke 9:39 “And behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out; it convulses him so that he foams at the mouth; and it departs from him with great difficulty, bruising him.

Luke 9:40 “So I implored Your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.”

Luke 9:41 Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.”

Luke 9:42 And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father.

Luke 9:43 And they were all amazed at the majesty of God. But while everyone marveled at all the things which Jesus did, He said to His disciples,

Luke 9:44 “Let these words sink down into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men.”

Luke 9:45 But they did not understand this saying, and it was hidden from them so that they did not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this saying.

Luke 9:46 Then a dispute arose among them as to which of them would be greatest.

Luke 9:47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by Him,

Luke 9:48 and said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me. For he who is least among you all will be great.”

Luke 9:49 Now John answered and said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.”

Luke 9:50 But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side.”

Luke 9:51 Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,

Luke 9:52 and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him.

Luke 9:53 But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem.

Luke 9:54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?”

Luke 9:55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.

Luke 9:56 “For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village.

Luke 9:57 Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, “Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.”

Luke 9:58 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

Luke 9:59 Then He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”

Luke 9:60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.”

Luke 9:61 And another also said, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.”

Luke 9:62 But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Luke 14:1 Now it happened, as He went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath, that they watched Him closely.

Luke 14:2 And behold, there was a certain man before Him who had dropsy.

Luke 14:3 And Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

Luke 14:4 But they kept silent. And He took him and healed him, and let him go.

Luke 14:5 Then He answered them, saying, “Which of you, having a donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?”

Luke 14:6 And they could not answer Him regarding these things.

Luke 14:7 So He told a parable to those who were invited, when He noted how they chose the best places, saying to them:

Luke 14:8 “When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in the best place, lest one more honourable than you be invited by him;

Luke 14:9 “and he who invited you and him come and say to you, ‘Give place to this man,’ and then you begin with shame to take the lowest place.

Luke 14:10 “But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the table with you.

Luke 14:11 “For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Luke 14:12 Then He also said to him who invited Him, “When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbours, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid.

Luke 14:13 “But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind.

Luke 14:14 “And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

Luke 14:15 Now when one of those who sat at the table with Him heard these things, he said to Him, “Blessed is he who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!”

Luke 14:16 Then He said to him, “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many,

Luke 14:17 “and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’

Luke 14:18 “But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’

Luke 14:19 “And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’

Luke 14:20 “Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’

Luke 14:21 “So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.’

Luke 14:22 “And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’

Luke 14:23 “Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

Luke 14:24 ‘For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.’ “

Luke 14:25 Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them,

Luke 14:26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.

Luke 14:27 “And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

Luke 14:28 “For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it—

Luke 14:29 “lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him,

Luke 14:30 “saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’

Luke 14:31 “Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?

Luke 14:32 “Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace.

Luke 14:33 “So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.

Luke 14:34 “Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavour, how shall it be seasoned?

Luke 14:35 “It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

John 12:1 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead.

John 12:2 There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him.

John 12:3 Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.

John 12:4 But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said,

John 12:5 “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?”

John 12:6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.

John 12:7 But Jesus said, “Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial.

John 12:8 “For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”

John 12:9 Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.

John 12:10 But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also,

John 12:11 because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.

John 12:12 The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

John 12:13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ The King of Israel!”

John 12:14 Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written:

John 12:15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; Behold, your King is coming, Sitting on a donkey’s colt.”

John 12:16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.

John 12:17 Therefore the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness.

John 12:18 For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign.

John 12:19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!”

John 12:20 Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast.

John 12:21 Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”

John 12:22 Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus.

John 12:23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified.

John 12:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.

John 12:25 “He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

John 12:26 “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honour.

John 12:27 “Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour.

John 12:28 “Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”

John 12:29 Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to Him.”

John 12:30 Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake.

John 12:31 “Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.

John 12:32 “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”

John 12:33 This He said, signifying by what death He would die.

John 12:34 The people answered Him, “We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever; and how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”

John 12:35 Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.

John 12:36 “While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them.

John 12:37 But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him,

John 12:38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?”

John 12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again:

John 12:40 “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.”

John 12:41 These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.

John 12:42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue;

John 12:43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

John 12:44 Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me.

John 12:45 “And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.

John 12:46  “I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.

John 12:47 “And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.

John 12:48 “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.

John 12:49 “For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.

John 12:50 “And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.”

John 13:1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

John 13:2 And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him,

John 13:3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,

John 13:4 rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself.

John 13:5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

John 13:6 Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?”

John 13:7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”

John 13:8 Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”

John 13:9 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”

John 13:10 Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.”

John 13:11 For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.”

John 13:12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?

John 13:13 “You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.

John 13:14  “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

John 13:15 “For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

John 13:16 “Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.

John 13:17 “If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

John 13:18 “I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’

John 13:19 “Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He.

John 13:20 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”

John 13:21 When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.”

John 13:22 Then the disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom He spoke.

John 13:23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.

John 13:24 Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to ask who it was of whom He spoke.

John 13:25 Then, leaning back on Jesus’ breast, he said to Him, “Lord, who is it?”

John 13:26 Jesus answered, “It is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it.” And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

John 13:27 Now after the piece of bread, Satan entered him. Then Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.”

John 13:28 But no one at the table knew for what reason He said this to him.

John 13:29 For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus had said to him, “Buy those things we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.

John 13:30 Having received the piece of bread, he then went out immediately. And it was night.

John 13:31 So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him.

John 13:32 “If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately.

John 13:33 “Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come,’ so now I say to you.

John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

John 13:35 “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 13:36 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered him, “Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward.”

John 13:37 Peter said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake.”

John 13:38 Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.

Philippians 1:1 Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

Philippians 1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

Philippians 1:4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy,

Philippians 1:5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now,

Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

Philippians 1:7 just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace.

Philippians 1:8 For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

Philippians 1:10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ,

Philippians 1:11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 1:12 But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,

Philippians 1:13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ;

Philippians 1:14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

Philippians 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill:

Philippians 1:16 The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains;

Philippians 1:17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel.

Philippians 1:18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

Philippians 1:19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

Philippians 1:20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Philippians 1:22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labour; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell.

Philippians 1:23 For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

Philippians 1:24 Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.

Philippians 1:25 And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith,

Philippians 1:26 that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.

Philippians 1:27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel,

Philippians 1:28 and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.

Philippians 1:29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,

Philippians 1:30 having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.

Philippians 2:1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,

Philippians 2:2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

Philippians 2:4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

Philippians 2:6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,

Philippians 2:7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

Philippians 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Philippians 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

Philippians 2:10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

Philippians 2:11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

Philippians 2:14 Do all things without complaining and disputing,

Philippians 2:15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

Philippians 2:16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or laboured in vain.

Philippians 2:17 Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.

Philippians 2:18 For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.

Philippians 2:19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state.

Philippians 2:20 For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state.

Philippians 2:21 For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 2:22 But you know his proven character, that as a son with his father he served with me in the gospel.

Philippians 2:23 Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it goes with me.

Philippians 2:24 But I trust in the Lord that I myself shall also come shortly.

Philippians 2:25 Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and the one who ministered to my need;

Philippians 2:26 since he was longing for you all, and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick.

Philippians 2:27 For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

Philippians 2:28 Therefore I sent him the more eagerly, that when you see him again you may rejoice, and I may be less sorrowful.

Philippians 2:29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem;

Philippians 2:30 because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.

Philippians 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe.

Philippians 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation!

Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,

Philippians 3:4 though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so:

Philippians 3:5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee;

Philippians 3:6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

Philippians 3:7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.

Philippians 3:8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ

Philippians 3:9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

Philippians 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

Philippians 3:11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Philippians 3:12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,

Philippians 3:14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.

Philippians 3:16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.

Philippians 3:17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.

Philippians 3:18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

Philippians 3:19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame–who set their mind on earthly things.

Philippians 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Philippians 3:21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

2 Thessalonians 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you,

2 Thessalonians 3:2 and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

2 Thessalonians 3:4 And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you.

2 Thessalonians 3:5 Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.

2 Thessalonians 3:6 But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us.

2 Thessalonians 3:7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you;

2 Thessalonians 3:8 nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labour and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you,

2 Thessalonians 3:9 not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.

2 Thessalonians 3:11 For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies.

2 Thessalonians 3:12 Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.

2 Thessalonians 3:13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.

2 Thessalonians 3:14 And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed.

2 Thessalonians 3:15 Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.

2 Thessalonians 3:17 The salutation of Paul with my own hand, which is a sign in every epistle; so I write.

2 Thessalonians 3:18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,

1 Timothy 4:2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,

1 Timothy 4:3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

1 Timothy 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving;

1 Timothy 4:5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

1 Timothy 4:6 If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed.

1 Timothy 4:7 But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness.

1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

1 Timothy 4:9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance.

1 Timothy 4:10 For to this end we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, especially of those who believe.

1 Timothy 4:11 These things command and teach.

1 Timothy 4:12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

1 Timothy 4:13 Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

1 Timothy 4:14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.

1 Timothy 4:15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.

1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

James 5:1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you!

James 5:2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.

James 5:3 Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days.

James 5:4 Indeed the wages of the labourers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

James 5:5 You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

James 5:6 You have condemned, you have murdered the just; he does not resist you.

James 5:7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.

James 5:8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

James 5:9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!

James 5:10 My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.

James 5:11 Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

James 5:12 But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into judgment.

James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.

James 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

James 5:15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

James 5:17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.

James 5:18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

James 5:19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back,

James 5:20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

1 Peter 2:1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,

1 Peter 2:2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,

1 Peter 2:3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

1 Peter 2:4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,

1 Peter 2:5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”

1 Peter 2:7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone,”

1 Peter 2:8 and “A stone of stumbling And a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

1 Peter 2:10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

1 Peter 2:11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,

1 Peter 2:12 having your conduct honourable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

1 Peter 2:13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme,

1 Peter 2:14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good.

1 Peter 2:15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men–

1 Peter 2:16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.

1 Peter 2:17 Honour all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

1 Peter 2:18 Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh.

1 Peter 2:19 For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully.

1 Peter 2:20 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.

1 Peter 2:21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:

1 Peter 2:22 “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”;

1 Peter 2:23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness–by whose stripes you were healed.

1 Peter 2:25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
